NHS Blood and Transplant People First

Keeping Well at Work (Health and Wellbeing)

NHS Blood and Transplant is fully committed to the health and wellbeing of its employees. As a health service, health and wellbeing applies as much to our employees as it does to the local population and we want to do as much as we can to enable our employees to be at their best, be energised, motivated and committed to their work.  You also have a responsibility for your own fitness, health and wellbeing which contribute to your quality of life, including life at work.

The aim of our Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2018-23 is to ensure employees are healthy, happy and engaged at work.

It encompasses the following key areas:

  • Making NHSBT a great place to work
  • Providing occupational health services to all employees as required
  • Improve employee access to support for mental health issues, long-term health conditions, and disabilities
  • Increasing engagement with wellbeing issues amongst employees, managers and leaders
  • Increasing awareness of sources of support available
  • Increasing the number of health and wellbeing initiatives that add value
  • Improved access to healthy food and drink in the workplace
