Leadership and Management

Leaders and Managers play a pivotal role in getting things done by motivating, inspiring and leading others at work.

Our ambition is to be a great place to work and to achieve this we need leaders and managers to feel valued, supported and confident that they have the right skills to manage and lead well.

We are currently in the process of transforming our traditional leadership courses into innovative, interactive, blended learning programmes. There will be a pilot digital package early 2020, with a view to launch the full programme later in the year

Coaching Conversations

Coaching Conversations can enable an environment of engagement, empowerment and proactive and innovative problem solving and decision making.

As coaching is all about personal one-to-one interaction, this on-line module on Shine Academy has been developed so you can identify and understand some of the principles and processes of successful coaching conversations.

This on-line module will not make you a proficient coach as ultimately you can only learn to coach by coaching others using the ideas presented here and developing them for yourself.

This module is your first step to having successful coaching conversations.

Objectives:

  • Identify and understand the principles of coaching
  • Understand how coaching can be used in the work context
  • Be able to apply a simple model for coaching; GROW
  • Know when and how to use coaching skills
  • Be clear about the coach / coachee relationship.

If you mange individuals within NHSBT and want to develop these skills further and enhance your coaching style of Leadership and Management, please refer to the Manager as Coach programme.

Senior Leaders Development Programme (SLDP)

The overarching aim of SLDP is to build the leadership talent pool and support people to compete for senior strategic roles. The programme is designed to prepare leaders to lead transformational change, develop and implement strategy, and engage more effectively with people they lead.

Delegate Nomination

There is no open application process for SLDP 2018. SLDP is intended to support directorates with their succession and strategic workforce planning objectives so rather than invest in a costly selection process, Directors will work with their teams to identify delegates from their service and the 14 places available will be allocated on a pro rata basis.

HR Business Partners will support Directors to nominate people who can satisfy clearly identified criteria.
