NHS Blood and Transplant People First

LGBT+ Network

Our Network aims to enable LGBT+ colleagues and those in support of LGBT+ equality to come together to share ideas and information, offer support, and enhance the rights of LGBT+ people within NHS Blood and Transplant.

LGBT+ is an initialism of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender/Transsexual. The “plus” is inclusive of other groups, such as asexual, intersex, queer, questioning etc.

By signalling an LGBT+ presence within NHSBT, the Network also aims to promote a comfortable and fully inclusive environment in which LGBT+ colleagues can reach their full potential without fear of discrimination.

The Network wishes to work in partnership with senior management, Trade Union Colleagues and all other NHSBT colleagues to create an inclusive and diverse working environment that encourages a culture of respect and equality for everyone regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Our Network was established in 2017 in response to a recognition that LGBT+ inclusion within NHSBT is an important area for us to develop further. As the Network has only recently been established, our aims and key priorities are steadily developing. The Network currently meets approximately every 2 months and we would welcome any input on the work carried out by the Network or anything that you feel we could help address.

Our meetings also offer a great opportunity for networking with LGBT+ colleagues and those in support in LGBT+ rights from across the UK.

If you have any suggestions for the Network or would like to join then please get in touch with the Network Chair, below.

We warmly welcome all LGBT+ colleagues and those in support of LGBT+ rights to the Network.
