This week marks the seventh Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Week. The theme is: Diverse, inclusive, together. This week also marks Mental Health Awareness week and International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT).

Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Week #EQW2018 is a national platform which helps organisations highlight the work they are doing to create a fairer, more inclusive workplace for all. As the largest employer in Europe, with over 1.3 million colleagues, the NHS has a responsibility to remain at the forefront of the inclusion and fairness agenda.

Throughout the week, we will highlight work happening across the organisation to ensure that NHSBT continues to meet the diverse needs of our customers and is a place where colleagues from all backgrounds want to work.

Working together makes all NHS organisations stronger, we meet standards, enable change and collectively invest in the creation of a diverse and inclusive workforce to deliver a more inclusive service. There are a number of resources and policies available on the Diversity and Inclusion page on People First.

Make sure you take part in Dress for Diversity day on Wednesday 16 May by coming to work in national/traditional or casual dress and donate £2 to our charity partner, Bloodwise. True diversity is the key to our organisation’s success. There’s no better way to celebrate!NHSBT’s

LGBT+ Network have chosen today to launch the new LGBT+ Ally lanyard which is available to all colleagues who wish to show their support for LGBT+ issues. Request your lanyard from your local centre reception and send in your photos of solidarity to the Connect inbox.

Look out for blogs and news items throughout the week that will help to raise awareness and promote diversity and inclusion across NHSBT for #EQW2018.
