People First to SharePoint update

Date: 05 September 2019

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for your recent feedback on our survey regarding potentially moving People First to SharePoint.  We had 258 respondents across all directorates, which gave us a really good indication of what our colleagues think about the site. Based on this feedback the decision has been taken to delay the move to SharePoint for the time being. Your feedback was that you valued most the accessibility to information. The majority of People First is currently available externally as well as internally which provides much needed access from external venues for colleagues not logged into the network.

Whilst we’d be able to make provisions to make the SharePoint platform available externally, this would require additional work for mobile devices and increase the number of steps in order to access the system. We are currently planning to delay the move for approximately 2 years, where in the meantime SharePoint’s capabilities will increase and accessibility improved.

However, we do not want to sit back and leave People First as is. We are keen to make improvements to the current system based on your feedback. For those who kindly offered to provide further support, we will be in touch shortly to discuss this further with you.

Some of the key themes that arose from the survey were:

  • People First requires better search functions/facilities
  • Needs to be more visual
  • Needs improved navigation

Since the survey took place we have started to discuss the future development of the site with our supplier and we are hopeful we can evolve the site to address these areas of improvement.

Again, we’d like to thank you all for your feedback and we will provide further communication as the site develops.
