Recognition of Excellence

NHSBT’s Recognition of Excellence Scheme is an organisational-wide initiative which is open for nominations all year round. The climax of the scheme is the presentation of annual awards at NHSBT’s Annual Awards Ceremony.

Nominees must be an employee of NHSBT, that is on NHSBT’s payroll. If this is not the case or if you wish to recognise an external person or team you can use the Exceptional Partnership Certificate.

Note, if you are nominating more than 1 person in the same nomination, please complete the team nomination form. The categories for Employee, Manager, Customer Service are for individuals only. Any nominations for an Employee of the Month with more than 1 colleague named will automatically be re-categorised as an Team of the Month nomination

  • Employee of the Month (Individual Employees only)
  • Manager of the Month
  • Team of the Month
  • Customer Service of the Month

Nominations can be made using the nomination form

How to Nominate

All NHSBT employees are eligible to nominate and be nominated using the nomination form. All nominations will be recognised unless there is an outstanding or on-going disciplinary issue affecting the nominated employee.

Certificates will be posted to the recipient's manager for presentation in the month after the nomination is received

All nominations are assessed against NHSBT’s values of:

  • Caring – we care about our donors, their families, our staff and the patients we serve.
  • Expert – we are expert in meeting the needs of our customers and partners.
  • Quality – we provide quality products, services and experiences for donors, staff and patients.

You will be asked to provide evidence of your nominated colleague(s) going above and beyond what is normally expected of them within their role. You will also be asked to indicate any challenges or obstacles they overcame to achieve positive outcomes. The voting panel only take information from the nomination form, so ensure you provide sufficient information as to why the nominee should be recognised.

Please don't use this form if you are wishing to submit a nomination for the National Awards Ceremony

Nomination Process

Monthly Award

After the end of the month in which the nomination was received, the Manager of nominated individuals and teams will receive a certificate and a small memento to present to the recipient/s. The nominator is emailed to advise the certificate has been sent.

An independent panel comprising representatives from the directorates assess each nomination against our values. The winners in each category receive a certificate signed by the Chief Executive and a memento. All quarterly winners are voted on to create the annual winner in each category

All quarterly award winners are invited to the National Award Ceremony, where the annual winners are announced and they are presented with a certificate and trophy.
