What is the recruitment and selection process for redeployees to apply to NHSBT vacancies?

You will normally be eligible for preferential consideration for posts on your own band.  If you apply for any post that is not on your own band, you will be subject to the normal recruitment process and the redeployment preference will not apply. If due to any particular circumstances this is different, you will be informed in writing.

On a weekly basis, every Wednesday and Friday by 5.30pm, the NHSBT e-Recruitment Portal is updated with new vacancies. As either a Redeployee or a Potential Redeployee you are entitled to be given priority when applying for a role that is the same banding as your current role; a Potential Redeployee will be given priority after those with Redeployee status but before other candidates. A Redeployee will be given priority before both Potential Redeployees and any other candidates.

If you are interested in any of the vacancies published, you should follow the link on the eRecruitment System.  The first time you apply through this system you will need to set up an account with username and password. To ensure that you get this priority treatment however you MUST answer the relevant question in your application to indicate that you are a redeployee. You should do this on every application for a suitable priority role. See the full e-recruitment process for more details.

You may, of course. still apply for other jobs which are a different banding to that of your own, but you will not be eligible for priority for these.

Please do not rely on NHS Jobs for viewing all NHSBT vacancies as those vacancies open only to NHSBT staff will not appear there.  To ensure you get sight of ALL NHSBT Vacancies you should always search via the NHSBT e-Recruitment system. If you would like to look at other jobs in NHS Organisations, please go to Question 7 for further guidance.

If you anticipate any difficulties in accessing vacancies in this way then please discuss with your line manager.

Shortlisting

All applications will be shortlisted against the criteria for the post. This is outlined in the recruitment documentation. Where there is a match, you will be shortlisted.  However, there is an expectation that the shortlisting manager will be flexible in their approach. Consideration should be given whether you could be reasonably expected to acquire or meet the required criteria in a reasonable period. If your application does not match the criteria, you are entitled to ask the hiring manager for feedback.

Selection Process

If you are shortlisted, you will have a formal interview where you are expected to complete any necessary tests. These are used to ensure you meet the essential criteria for the post, provided these tests are used for other candidates.  We recommend that where possible an independent manager or HR colleague is included on the interview panel. You will only be in competition with other Redeployees. You will not be competing against other internal or external candidates.

There is an expectation that the interview panel will be flexible in considering whether you could be reasonably expected to acquire or meet the essential criteria in a reasonable period of time. If you are unsuccessful at the selection, the panel must provide justification confirming their reasons to Recruitment and Talent Acquisition Department for consideration before the decision is confirmed.

If you are not shortlisted or unsuccessful at interview you are entitled to ask the hiring manager for verbal feedback.
