Coronavirus Information

What is Coronavirus?

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.

Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.  Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.

We all play a part in reducing the spread of the Coronavirus and to help save lives.

Note: resourcing temporary Donor Carers and Nurses and on-boarding all types of contracts within these roles across Blood Donation has changed. Please refer to the Resourcing & Onboarding – Blood Collections page for the most up to date information.

Note: At this time, we have made adjustments to some of our policies, to support our response to Coronavirus. Therefore we have developed ‘Cover Sheets’ to highlight where these temporary changes have been applied.
Please look out for these in the appropriate policy document areas, as changes have only been made to some policies.
