Agile Working

Agile working is an extension to the flexible working policy and refers specifically to flexibility for people in terms of work location, either at an NHSBT location or a home address, in order find the most appropriate and effective way of working to carry out a particular task.

A flexible approach to your working location is one of the many opportunities we can offer you to support a greater work life balance.  NHSBT recognises the potential benefits of a flexible working location, specifically by reducing commuting times and cost and is committed to supporting requests for Agile working where roles allow them to do so and for those colleagues whose personal circumstances may suit.

A new Agile Working Policy has been introduced in NHSBT that supports a flexible work base location approach.  The Agile Working Policy offers the following as options for consideration and discussion with your manager:

Home Based Working – if you opt for this, your contractual base would be your home, this could be an option if you can successfully perform the majority of your duties working from home.

Hybrid Working – this option supports a regular mixture of working locations including your home. Your contractual base would be a main NHSBT site, but you can agree flexibility within this to fulfil your duties.

If you are considering either Home or Hybrid working, please read the Agile Working Policy and FAQ.

If you are considering Flexible Retirement, please read the Flexible Retirement Policy.

Existing Contracted homeworkers will be contacted by the People Directorate to establish your current working pattern and to look at options available to you within this new policy.

If the primary reason for flexible working is to implement a workplace adjustment (temporary or permanent), then the Workplace/Reasonable Adjustments Policy will apply and not the Flexible Working Policy.
