Speak Up (Whistleblowing)
We recognise that sometimes you may be worried about what is happening at work. It is important that you speak up about a concern, and are confident that we will listen. Usually these are easily resolved. However, if your concern is about risk, malpractice or wrongdoing, it can be difficult to know what to do.
You can raise a concern about risk, malpractice or wrongdoing you think is harming the service we deliver, for example:
- Unsafe patient/donor care
- Unsafe working conditions
- Inadequate induction or training
- Lack of or poor response to a reported donor/patient safety incident
- Suspicions of fraud (which can also be reported in accordance with our Anti-Fraud, Bribery and Corruption Policy)
- Raising concerns of poor treatment of a group of NHSBT colleagues for instances of e.g. bullying, harassment or victimisation.
It can be difficult to know what to do. We have a Freedom to Speak Up Policy for the NHS (Adopted by NHSBT) in place to support you when raising such concerns. Please refer to this policy for further information to support you.
For any concerns regarding unacceptable behaviour, bullying, harassment or abuse refer to the Dignity at Work page.
