Reviewing the vacancy

Before you start the recruitment process it is important you are clear about what you are looking for.  You need to be sure that everything you ask for is necessary and relevant for the role, and is measurable. This will help you avoid or defend complaints or claims of discrimination. You should consider:-

What they do – Has the role changed since you last recruited? Do the job description, person specification, recruitment profile need updating?

When they do it – What is the working pattern?  Are there core hours, fixed shifts?  How flexible can you be with the hours for the right candidate?

Where they do it – Where will the role be based?  Have you checked with facilities regarding accommodation if this is a new post or change of base?

For new posts please refer to the Job Evaluation and Grading page.  If you amend the Job Description and / or Person Specification, you will need to send these for job evaluation to ensure that the changes do not affect the salary banding for the post.

On receipt of approval to recruit, you will be allocated a recruitment contact who will arrange a commissioning meeting to agree key details and dates.
